John Eyre entered Trinity College, Dublin, as a Fellow Commoner, 15 July, 1738. was a member of the Irish House of Commons, but was raised to the Peerage as Baron Eyre of Eyrecourt in 1768. On the death of Lord Eyre, without male issue, the title became extinct, whilst the Castle and Estates of Eyrecourt passed to his nephew Gile, eldest son of his next brother Richard who had predeceased him.
Mary Eyre married The Right Honourable George Evans, and was ancestress of the Earl of Seafield, Lords Carberry, Massy and Clarina, and the present Marquess of Ruvigny and Raineval. ( this statement was written 1916). She was author of 'Plantaganet Roll' and other genealogical works.
