Robert his association with the law, which made the name Eyre a
famous in the legal profession of the eighteenth as Pollock was
in the nineteenth. He was a bencher in Lincoln's Inn, where his
arms are still to be seen emblazoned with those of other
benefactors, in the Hall of that
Society.
Recorder of Salsbury 1696: M.P. for Salisbury 1698 and five
succeeding Parliaments; Solicitor-General1708;Judge of the
Court of King's Bench; Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer 1723;
Chancellor to the Prince of Wales(afterwards George II); and
Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas. Sir Robert's
whole career on the three Benches lasted over twenty-one years.

Robert Thorton Eyre a descendant of Thomas Eyre, younger
brother of Giles Eyre, the founder of the Brickworth
family.
Sir Samuel Eyre knt. of Newhouse. He inherited the estate of
Bonhams from his great uncle William Eyre, and purchased
Newhouse from his cousin William in 1660. He was called to the
Degree of Serjeant-at-Law, and on 22 Feb,1694 was appointed one
of the Judges of the Court of King's Bench.

erected to him by the people of

Robert Eyre, was M.P. for the city of New Sarum in
