Note on Husband: Robert EYRE
Robert Eyre took the side of the King in the civil war, and
acted on King Charles' Commission to press men and raise money
for the Royal Army. He submitted to the Parliament in April
1645, when he took the two oaths and paid 100 pounds for his
personal estate, and othersums on account, for his real estate,
to the Wilts Committee. He appears to have been dealt with
quite lightly, on December 11th, 1648 he was fined the sum of
420 pounds. He stated to the Committee that the estate
remainder to six sons in succession, then to his brother Henry.
Of these six sons only one was mentioned, namely Robert who
succeeded him at Little Chaldfield.1
