Note on Husband: George CAYLEY
Sir George Cayley has been described by many as the father of Aerial Navigation. He developed the first proper understandings of the principles of flight a century before the Wright brothers and encouraged his coachman into becoming the the first man to fly (gliding across Brompton Dale in North Yorkshire) 50 years before the Wright brothers first powered flight.
His achievements are commemorated by various UK universities including the Scarborough Campus of Hull University (where I studied 2002-2005)
