Individual Note
William Eyre, who was elected Prior of the Canons of S.
Augustine, Christchurch, Hants. in 1502.
He was buried behind the high altar of the Priory Church under
a flat stone which now lies in the north choir aisle at
Christchurch, immediately to the west of the chapel forming the
eastern end of the aisle.
The flat tombstone is made of Purbeck Marble. It has the matrix
of a brass effigy.1
